Updated standard court

Unread post by rjtomlinson1977 »

Here's the Jack of Hearts for the Tomlinson Playing Card Co. standard court. Still deciding on colors. I want to evoke the classic look but at the same time modernize it. The pips will be different... I just slapped standard ones on for now.

I like armor and seals. I like this; Jackson is exploring this also. I see your looking at the old cards.

I love the classic courts... I feel they could use a little cleaning up. They've been used and abused far too many years.

nice take RJ, i think the halberd is a little too close to his head. perhaps just push that back a tad. Also perhaps the line weight of the outline of the crown/hat can be a little more consistent with the rest of the body, seems a little thick now

I agree, the battle ax should be moved slightly and the stroke width could be a little thinner for the hat. I plan to have all the courts done by the end of the year since I'll have a two week winter break soon. I'll make corrections and color adjustments once I get all the court cards done. After that I'll focus on a back design and tuck case. I hope to design a fancy ace of spades too. This deck will be to the Tomlinson Playing Card Co... what Bicycle and Bee is to USPCC. It will be our staple brand. Probably still printed by USPCC but not 100% certain yet. Of course if someone wanted to go half on buying a printing facility.... I'm open to that too. lol

Yeah, Tomlinson Playing Card Co... is kind of long. That will always be hidden on bottom of the tuck. For our branded deck I'm kicking around a few options (Nobles, Royals, Camelot, etc.) I want to create a brand to save on paying Bicycle the fee to use their name. lol
For example, instead of Bicycle Civil Unrest it would have been Nobles Civil Unrest. Of course... for me I'm more concerned about looks rather then what it says. I think that's how they did it back in the day too. They're like... "Hey look out the window there's a bicycle or there's a bee... let's brand it... bingo bongo"
My main concern is creating great quality decks at a fair price. Even though the bike logo really isn't too pricey... so who knows.
