Hey guys,

It's sorta been a bit and I wanted to post an update. It's a pretty good one too!

I've been working on creating a very straight forward website for people to go to and subscribe to get notified when the 2nd edition Lumberjacks are on Kickstarter.

http://www.lumberjackplayingcards.com/2ndedition/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Check it out, and if you're interested in knowing when the campaign is live, subscribe! I will NOT email you any non-sense. You will only get an email when it's live! And of course, i'll be posting here saying it's live as well.

Again, very straight forward, but once the campaign is finished (and if successful) I will be redoing both sites and combining both decks into one, better store.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. So here's a progress update!

I've been working on promotional photography for the Lumberjacks, getting prototype cards printed and looking for a cardist near my area for the video. That last one was a real challenge.

The good news is all three things are done!

Here's a preview of the photos (please keep in mind that these are mocks that I made using my in house printer):
Tuck

Aces:

The prototype cards (even though they were printed by a 3rd party printer) look really cool. I'll post some photos of them as well. I'm currently storyboarding the video and building the KS campaign as much as I can.

If you haven't done so yet, please subscribe!

Thanks!

Very reasonable and only $7 to get your first deck makes it a bigger winner. Too bad we can't see the international shipping though.

Made some minor changes. I removed some extra rewards and added the uncut sheet into the add-on section. I'll be doing some minor copy edits as well.

Here's a bigger image of the uncut sheet:

I'll post some versions of the last gaff card a little later! ;)

Aren't you about an hour early? I refreshed the project preview and thought it was still in draft mode. Wouldn't have noticed that it was live if you hadn't mentioned it. Glad I still got to catch an EB.

Hey guys,

After the campaign ended (unsuccessfully) I posted on Facebook in The Card Club asking for opinions from members of why they though it didn't succeed. I got a bunch of replies and suggestions. One regarding the royalty having a little more brawn. Since the Jack of Spades was really the only one lacking something, I've decided to fully embrace his laziness!

Here's an updated version of the JoS:

Let me know what you guys think, I've also brought back the subscribe site. So if you you want to know when I relaunch the campaign, please subscribe and I'll let you know!

More updates to come!

Is it just me but I always think of red plaid when I think of lumberjacks, would be nice to see them wearing plaid on the decks...

I have to agree about the color. Blue really isn't what I picture when I think lumberjack. Solid red would work but I think red and black plaid would work best.

I think they're technically meant to be denim. But yeah plaid is the staple shirt a lot of us picture on lumberjacks.

It's the Jack of Spades though, red doesn't really work on spades...

Could always do a Green instead of Black?

If you really wanted to add more to the deck you could include wooden textures as a background, make the spades and clubs pips look more like trees, incorporate saws into the designs, use plaid, smoking pipes etc

There is so much more you could do with a deck with this theme than just bearded men holding axes...

I maybe able to add a pipe to a card or two and a texture on the pip cards. I try to work something up. Thanks for the comments / suggestions.
