Symphony No.01

Unread post by adhex5150 »

Hey everyone,

On the past month I've been working on this deck concept.
Symphony No.01 Playing Cards.
This is a full custom deck inspired by the Greatest Composers of all time, from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Period.

If you're a member of http://www.playingcardforum.com and would like to see this deck printed by EPCC, please help me by vote my deck (Symphony No.01) for Discourse Design Deck Contest.

There's a poll on the link below, vote for "Symphony #1"
http://www.playingcardforum.com/playing ... -contest!/
Voting closes: July 15, 2014, 12:03:42 PM

Thank you :)

Paganini! :)

Looking really good! Best of luck!

A little feedback? If you don't mind. Perhaps the font could be a little more antique or of the period? Seems a little modern for the deck.

Thanks Eoghann :)

This is the final design, can't do any change atm. But I will consider if it could be change later.
Thanks for the advice anyway ;)

If this is the final design, I won't bother posting my suggestions. Don't see why you would post it at all though :|

I also don't get why you, someone who's already held a successful KS campaign, would enter a contest like this. But nevertheless, good luck!

But the problem is that it's not free, you are giving away the rights to your artwork for 400 odd decks ?

I don't see any problem for someone who is already held a succesful KS campaign to enter a contest. I'm starting from just a contest (I won the Vjose deck design contest and Bicycle 808 design deck contest) before work with kardify, and I still a same person as I was earlier.

I think there are some UC member who is also a Discourse member that would support this deck to get printed, so I post it here to get some help at the voting stage.

I think it's a win win situation when I enter a contest, if I win the contest, the deck will be print. If I don't win, I still could try a KS campaign :)
We all know that launch a KS campaign is to get the deck printed. For me it's the same when I enter a contest, is to get the deck printed.

Anyway thank you for wishing me good luck :D

Yes, it's not free, because I have to give the rights for the artwork. But when the EPCC declares they have no further interest in printing the winning design or simply stops printing the winning design, printing rights for said design will revert back to the contest winner exactly one (1) year after the final print run is offered for sale by EPCC, or at any time prior by mutual consent.

It just seems like a step back to me. Once you're proficient enough with the process involved with getting a deck printed, I would think it would be more beneficial for you as an artist to control the entire operation yourself. That's just my impression though.

i`m nitpicking a little here, but the grouping of the composers in the suits seems a little off
For example why not have Chopin as Jack to the Schumanns King and Queen of Diamonds. Why have Fanny on her own Get her brother as Jack to Wagners King of Hearts.Have Bach King and Hildegard von Bingen as Queen of Clubs with Telemann as Jack... :? The Spades are O.K though :)
That`s just my Opinion  i suppose many would disagree.

Well, I appreciate your impression. ;)

But I have to say this,
when I saw Lillie McCloud enter X-Factor USA, I don't see it as a step back. She is a famous singer with 5 album title and lot of Singles releases. If she is so famous and proficient enough with the process, why would bother to enter a contest and try to win X-Factor by vote?

I think it is the consistency of creating and to show people what we have. For me, creating art or design is not limited to only one place. In this case design a deck, I won't limit myself for KS only. If I have many place and chance to show my work, then I will not limited myself to only one place.

Basically the Kings are the most influence composers from the Baroque and Classical Period.
The Jacks are the most influence composers in Romantic Period.
And the Queens are my top 4 of female composers.

I put Chopin as the Jack along with Szymanowaska, because her compositions—largely piano pieces, songs, and other small chamber works, as well as the first piano concert etudes and nocturnes in Poland — typify the stile brillant of the era preceding Chopin.

Hildegard von Bingen is not there as I mention above this deck was inspired by the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Period, which is Hildegard von Bingen is before the Renaissance.
