"Hard Angle" (not final name) WIP

Unread post by shebhnt »

So I've been slowly building a deck, it started out of a personal challenge to create something that only have points nothing that is round. Here is what I have come up with so far:

Nice, but I'm not sure if it would look better without color and with more of the grayscale you have on the back. Just my opinion though. Have you considered coloring the back with yellow and blue?

Hmmm haven't thought about changing the courts to more of a gray scale except maybe red. I'll mess around with colors some more and see how it turns out.

Also maybe if you considered layering or something because the court lines are really thick whereas those on the aces (and possibly the pips?) are really thin.

Here is some color added into the back. I'm not sure what you mean by the lines on the court being really thick.

Take the ace of hearts. The corner pips are completely filled. The middle pip is open and thin lines compose the picture. The king is mostly filled in. There aren't any thin lines in the picture. Maybe instead of having everything be filled there could be lines instead that way the different colors, such as yellow, would stand out more against say having red visible inside and underneath.

Great idea . Not too sure about the minimal look on the courts though, could do will some embellishments any more to show. the aces should be just one colour IMO . The back mmmmm again not too sure. Will wait and see what you do with wahl0108 suggestions ,Her opinions are usually close to mine :D

your back and aces are OK, but not very contiguous. the club design looks much more detailed then the rest. I am actually working on an angular deck design, and I know the clubs are the hardest to design.

the courts need some work. it looks like you just traced the standard courts. to make it look nice and angular I think you need to simplify it and make more acute angles. also, I think the first back color scheme was much better then the second one. I think you should try grayscale for the courts as well.

just my thoughts. take it or leave it.

I agree about the grayscale. I'm tweaking the colors.

I went with that direction for the aces since I like having all the aces look unique, not just spades. I can see what you mean with the clubs though.

Still playing with the courts. I like keeping it solid shapes but am seeing about making the shapes simpler, using maybe all right angles or 45 degree angles like the pips.

I agree, it's difficult to maintain the flow when some lines are curved and others are sharp. Do you have any number cards done we can see?

Ok, so I have been redesigning the face cards, here are two examples, one colored one gray scale. I haven't done any number cards yet as I was mostly focused on the court cards and was probably going to do traditional placements for the pips on the number cards.

Changed the colors, I think these look much better. Big shout out to Will Pitney for the new color scheme.
