Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
I've been working on this for a while now and I'm not even near the end but I thought I'd share some pictures

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
So is this going to be a deck about rabbits or is the word Usagi here not of Japanese origin?
Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
That's what I was wondering, but it seems to be a company name.sqmiller wrote:So is this going to be a deck about rabbits or is the word Usagi here not of Japanese origin?
The deck is called Contrast.
No matter where you go... there you are :|

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
Your logo seems to be too similar to season's, otherwise it looks like a decent start. What's your ultimate goal w the deck ? To be produced and listed on ks ?

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
So, to clear some things up:
1. The name Usagi is something I came up with for my YouTube channel where I upload music (http://www.youtube.com/extrasick" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), and though it really means rabbit in japanese it doesn't have anything to do with that I just liked the way it sounds , so yeah it's kind of like the name "fontaine" on Zach's deck wich is at the same time is company name.
1.5 Here's a video where you can see my logo used in one of my videos:
2. The logo is also my logo on that YouTube channel and wasn't intended to look like the seasons logo, but I hope it isn't too much of a problem since it only looks similar...
3. I thought about launching a deck on kickstarted for a long time now and I never really made a design (I always start by the back design) that I liked enough so I never continued with them. This time however it could be the design I'm finally happy with and I already started with the court cards (I'm going to redraw the "Arrco" faces so that they have a simplified look, like the early versions of the Smoke&Mirror decks had with Bicycle courts)

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
I finished the King of Hearts today.
As you can see I used the original Arrco face design and simplified it. I'm quite happy with the way this turned out

Interesting but the hand holding the sword looks so weird.Mirror wrote:I finished the King of Hearts today.

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
Actually the face and the hands are the only parts I left untouched from the original, so that's the way they look like on every Arrco deck (or Crown Deck)sqmiller wrote:

I guess it doesn't really suit the new clothes you gave it because it seems to pop out. xDMirror wrote:Actually the face and the hands are the only parts I left untouched from the original, so that's the way they look like on every Arrco deck (or Crown Deck)sqmiller wrote:

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
Please do not go the Kickstarter route. Do this only if you want to create a deck of your own, perhaps print it for your own enjoyment via makeplayingcards etc. You are not on the level of proper designers, and having a kickstarter isnt as easy as it looks.Mirror wrote: 3. Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
I don't see why my design should be a lot less successful than thisvolantangel wrote:You are not on the level of proper designers, and having a kickstarter isnt as easy as it looks.
I know that Zach is well known and that that helped him but that's why I try to put a bit more effort into my design. I don't try to hate on the fontaine decks, in fact even though I don't own any (yet) I really like them. I'm just saying that if a deck with that minimal effort in design manages to get funded then I should at least try. Also, I'm not sure about kickstarter, it's just a possibility.

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
If its not for his fame, his project would get blown to bits. Its the only reason why he succeeds, sorry but i hate the fontaine deck.Mirror wrote:I don't see why my design should be a lot less successful than thisvolantangel wrote:You are not on the level of proper designers, and having a kickstarter isnt as easy as it looks.

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
I didn't like the ribbon on the old Ace of Spades so I changed it slightly.

At the bottom, download the playing card templet pack from the USPCC. It will help you line things up. http://www.bicyclecards.com/custom-playing-cards

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
Well then use it, but please don't post anything with obvious errors like the indexes in you AoS. People will not take you seriously. I bet you hurt MagikFingerz's brain when he saw that. He is probably hiding in some dark room with a migraine. Maybe Walrus can help him...

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
Erm I'm not here to flame you or anything, but your AOS looks suspiciously like a certain deck we mentioned above.

Re: Usagi Playing Cards - Contrast Deck
wow, thanks I didn't even notice it but I know where the error comes from: I tried using the Indexes from the templates USPCC sent me but the "A" has errors in them so I tried using the Index from another ace and that's why it's not lined up correctly.sprouts1115 wrote:Well then use it, but please don't post anything with obvious errors like the indexes in you AoS.
I'll redo it.
