I have the first two decks and I think this is looking great, I'm loving the roses even though I generally don't like floral at all. Detail is noticeably improving with every project.

I gotta say though I was thinking 'automatic back' while reading through this until the red borders went away, now I think I'll be on the fence because without them it looks much much too similar to vol 1, more like a refresh than an evolution, not to mention the border on the back matching the front carries a lot of value in cohesiveness.

I'm afraid so, but it isn't a decision I've come to lightly. Automatically my design brain wants the back and front to match, but as red is one of the main deck colours for 2 of the suits it makes it difficult to play with. Red pips would have to become white and as the red is dark the black is barely visible so this would need to be white too.

I could have added a thin border similar to Le Chat on the edge of the cards, but having previously had thin borders on Vol.I its very stressful waiting to see how they have come out. If they were even a little off on the alignment, it would look odd and EPCC wouldn't reprint for free. So to be stress free, I can't have this as an option either.

So this leaves me with one option, which I'm happy with, I feel the red inner frame and all new cast of vampires sets the courts aside from Vol.I just enough to make it different. I can't see that people are using the deck for magic so the matching both sides should be less of an issue for general use or collecting.

Hopefully I'll see you on kickstater ;)

Well I definitely prefer the new look, the red borders just didn't look very clean/elegant and not being able to use red/black for the pips is a strong dislike for me and the outside index one is the more critical. Having other changes, a new set of characters, etc are also nice and the tuck is pretty sweet, but really it's that back! :o If it wasn't for the back and the change in borders I probably would have skipped this one. Making the borders beige (not red) put me on the fence. That back though makes this one I'll need to be in on. Looks great!

Any number card drafts to share yet?
