Flourishing Story

Unread post by skapuppet »

Hello all, my name's Jedrick, and I've been a cardist for five years now. I've been on hiatus for awhile, though, and it's only been recently since I broke that hiatus with a few videos (mostly practice session vids, though). "Flourishing Story" is my latest cardistry vid that was intended to try and tell a story through cardistry. It didn't receive alot of views, though :P, so I thought I'd try posting it here, which I didn't know existed until just now (I thought UnitedCardists got closed down...?). I hope you enjoy, please leave me comments on what do you think.

UC did get closed down, but a few people managed to salvage some of it and rebuild. We've been through several changes in admins since then, but we're still going strong after all these years. Although most of the cardists never seemed to find their way back, so sadly the cardistry section isn't as vibrant as it once were.

First of all, you need a new camera. The one you're using just doesn't work for cardistry or really any type of, uh, movement

Also, at 6:31 you're pushing the limits of how long a cardistry video should be at (IMO). The human attention span is becoming lower and lower these days, so keeping it at around 2-3 mins would probably be better.

Other than the above I like the concept of telling a story through cardistry. Emotion is so prevalent in other artforms, so I really like this approach. Done with a better camera and some editing to shorten it and smooth things out I think this would be awesome :)
