Coming up with new flourishes?

Unread post by mattvb »

I am quite skilled with many card tricks/flourishes at the moment.
I can do all the standard flourishes-charlier cut/Sybil etc,but I seem to only be able to copy other flourishes.
This is my problem,I'd like to invent my own?
Does anyone know of any ways to help me to create new card flourishes?

I never really got around to doing that myself, so I can't give you a good answer. I'm assuming one way to do it is to just sit and mess around with what you already know, then try to combine different techniques into new flourishes. It probably depends a lot on what kind of brain you have though; I have always been a more logical thinker, and not much of a creative artist.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Yep I would also say im a more logical than creative thinker-which may hinder this process.
I suppose I'll come up with something cool eventually.
Any more tips guys?

Just look for inspiration around you for example the Virts Icarus sequence tells a story. As far as it goes with creating new moves just play around and ask yourself what if I used the x instead of the original? For example Molecule relies on a middle finger z grip as apposed to a standard pointer z. So just ask yourself what if and why not.
